This class is designed so that whether you’re new to foraging or you’re an experienced mushroom hunter, you’ll learn new fungal facts and tricks that will enrich your life and fridge.
We’ll focus on how, when, and where to find the PNW’s best spring mushrooms and how to identify them safely. Daniel will also recommend the best mushroom reference materials for the PNW and how to use them.
A few of the mushrooms we’ll cover include Natural, Landscape, Blonde and Fire Morels (Morchella spp.), Spring Morels or Thimble Caps (Verpa bohemica) and False Morels (Gyromitra montana). We will discuss how to tell them apart and safely process and prepare them. Several other spring and year-round mushrooms will be covered as well.
The class will be illustrated by Daniel’s stunning mushroom photography.
TUITION: $10 – $20 SLIDING SCALE
