Friday Hike

This Friday, April 1st, I will lead our first hike of the season to Lyle Cherry Orchard.
This hike will have wildflowers, particularly at the beginning, and spectacular views high above the Columbia River. It is an approximately 7 mile with roughly 2,000 ft. gain and is a fairly moderate hike that will now include the new Lyle loop. The hike will be at a moderate pace and we will lunch at a new overlook.
Meet at 8:30 am at Lewis & Clark State Park, exit 18 off highway 84. Then we will cross the Columbia River at Hood River, turn right on Highway 14 and travel to the turnout and trailhead just past the tunnel east of Lyle. We will be stopping at a rest area on the right just a few miles before Lyle. If you’re carpooling from L & C Park, the car pool fee is $16.00, plus share the bridge tolls.
Bring lunch, water, sturdy hiking shoes, hiking poles, rain gear, etc. Wear long pants and be on the lookout for poison oak (just budding) and check yourself for ticks after the hike. Well behaved dogs are allowed. They must remain on leash (Friends of the Gorge rule.)
