Electrify Your County!

Tired of the debilitating news about pending climate doom? The window for action is closing, but we can save money, create jobs, keep energy spending local, cut toxic emissions, increase energy resilience, and more–with a path for that cuts climate emissions quickly enough to avoid climate disaster.
The requirement is simple, in concept: All of our main energy usages must be quickly transitioned to infrastructure powered by clean electricity. That implies the electrification of transportation and building loads–electric vehicles, heat pumps for space and water heating, induction cooktops, plus other emerging options. From households to cities to counties and states, the new infrastructure will save on operating costs, increase resilience, cut healthcare costs, and enable us to generate our own energy or buy clean electricity from our region instead of sending billions of dollars to fossil fuel states and countries.
The large operational cost savings available implies a major opportunity for financing. Spoiler alert: interest rates typical of home mortgages are low enough to achieve zero payback periods.
Tools for modeling new scenarios will be demonstrated for Oregon, Hood River County, and other counties.
