The Dalles Police Department is asking for assistance in locating three stolen wind sculptures. These pieces of art were taken from a traffic island at the intersection of East 12th Street and Kelly Avenue sometime between 8:30 pm on May 16th and 8:30 am on May 17th.

The wind spinners are approximately 7’ tall and are made out of metallic material. These sculptures are a beautiful addition to the community and we would like to have them back for everybody to enjoy.

Every once in a while our Officers encounter people from all walks of life. Just yesterday Officer Frakes met up with former Western Oregon football player turned World Strongman competitor Robert Oberst in downtown Hood River. Robert drove into town from his home in Idaho to support our local Hood River Hobby Shop. He told Officer Frakes he came to purchase some Pokémon cards for his son. When asked for a picture he didn’t hesitate and told Officer Frakes he loves to support Police Officers in his travels.

Robert routinely qualifies for the World’s Strongman Competition and most recently competed in the event in Sacramento California in 2021.

On May 8th, 2022, an Officer with the City of Hood River Police Department arrested an adult female on several charges to include Unlawful Possession and Distribution of Schedule II (Fentanyl), Unlawful Possession and Distribution of Methamphetamine, DUII-Controlled Substance, Driving while criminally suspended, Unlawful Possession of a firearm, Multnomah County arrest warrant and Theft III from a location business establishment.

During the arrest there was a total of approximately 376 suspected Fentanyl pills were seized. Over the last couple of years our Officers have been very proactive in the apprehension of individuals who come into our community with these types of narcotics and contraband.

Once again the City of Hood River Police Department and it’s members pride themselves on proactive patrols to keep the citizens and visitors in our community safe.

SUBJECT: ROBBERY & HOME INVASION INVESTIGATION

On Sunday, May 1st, 2022 at around 11:55 pm, patrol officers with The Dalles Police Department responded to a 911 report of an armed robbery and home invasion at the 800 block of Richland Court, The Dalles. The Dalles Police Department was assisted by the Oregon State Police and Wasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple suspects entered a home armed with weapons and detained the residents inside. Property was taken from the residents, and the suspects fled the area. Paramedics with Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene to attend to injuries of the victims. At this time, there is no information supporting any ongoing threat to residents in the area.

Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, TDPD did not immediately release information regarding the case. The investigation is ongoing, and TDPD is asking assistance from the public. Anyone with information regarding suspicious activity, including vehicles/persons parked in the 800 Block of Richland Court area between 10:00 pm and 12:30 am, is asked to contact The Dalles Police Department.

****UPDATE**** from previous post.

The money has been returned to our office. We would like to thank the people who reached out to us. Also, theft laws in Oregon can be vastly different than other states. So a theft here can read totally different than in California. In this particular incident Oregon has a a specific law that applies to this case. ORS 164.065. Theft of lost, mislaid property:

A person who comes into control of property of another that the person knows or has good reason to know to have been lost, mislaid or delivered under a mistake as to the nature or amount of the property or the identity of the recipient, commits theft if, with intent to deprive the owner thereof, the person fails to take reasonable measures to restore the property to the owner.

So how would someone relieve themselves from this incident? You either turn the money in to the store, or you take a few seconds and call us at 541-386-2121. Those are the reasonable measures one can take. It’s similar to the Hit and Run rule. To alleviate you of possible criminal charges, you can with leave a note with your info on the other vehicle or call the HRPD. Just a reminder we have Officers working 24/7 365 days a year to take your call.
